Big Z took the mound today, on short rest, as it was revealed that a fracture has limited Dempster to nine toes (that's 2 less than the average St. Louis Cardinals fan). Big Z allowed only two runs in his loss, the only run support coming from an RBI single off Koyie (who is no stranger to missing phalanges either). The only other hits came from Fonzy & Rami (both with two!) plus Hoff & the Riot. Angel, Sean & Aaron Heilman combined to pitch three scoreless innings in a continuing endearing bullpen.
BUT…while the offense did fail to get the best of a seemingly arch-nemesisy Javier Vazquez, a missed call on Big Z's first inning pickoff of Nate McLouth possibly cost the Cubs this one-run game. When Nate the Taint came around to score that first run I said to myself, "Please don’t let this be a one-run ballgame," as I'm aware I hold my grudges like I hold my liquor - an inhumane and inappropriate length of time until said grudge/liquor is forced to expel itself in a violent spew, most likely 2 ½ months from now when we're one game behind in the standings and I lie awake at night, plotting revenge on Bill Miller's toes.

Hart-warming

last night's game was pretty boring, but the good news is, Rami looks like he's getting his swing back!
Here's hoping the boys can still take 2 outta 3 in this series and then on to a MUCH needed day off tomorrow!
While the Cubs lost last night I was still excited to see Reed get an at-bat. Yes, he hit into a fly-out but damn he looked good doing it.
Much, much needed before the you-know-whos come to town, which reminds me: should we be rooting for the Brewers right now? 'Cause that makes me feel dirty...and kind of fat.
I know Kat - I'm anxiously awaiting these *lefties* so Reed can lead off!
Anothe one run loss, damn, well at least we didn't get blown out.
Rami didn't appear to be trying to hard to hit the ball like he did his first game back, so hopefully he will be in the groove before the Dirty Birds come to town.
the Fatties disappointed me last night-NO runs? Are you effin kidding me? I expect them to beat the dirty birds today, you hear me Fielder? I'm talkin to you too Braun and Mr. I Wear My Sunglasses At Night. Just do this already fatties, geez.
Yeah, I was hoping that the Brewers would beat up on the DB's but so much for that.
