First things first, let's just get it out of the way. By "it", I’m referring to Kevin Hart's team photo which is on a level of creepy usually reserved for windowless vans, leisure suits and - well, guys with moustaches like that. But hey! The 'stache is long gone and despite walking wayyy to many Bravos, he held 'em to one run in his five innings. I'll even start a petition to bring that lip fur back if it'll spark our unsparkable offense. We're officially in the second half of the season and it doesn’t look a whole lot different than the first: good pitching, some bullpen problems, bad defense and NO OFFENSE. A solo home run from Fuke was all the Cubs mustered up today as they dropped their second game in a row to the Chipperless Braves. The familiar lack of offense and Kevin's preseason moustache were not the most offensive things seen today - just when I thought Bill Miller deserved a be-toeing after last night's call, Derryl Cousins practically begs for one today. Take a look for yourself at these calls:
Runner was called out for a [shouldn't have been] double play.
Runner called safe in the midst of a [should be double] play.
Who cares? An off day - finally!

I just had a conversation with one of my friends last night about how the umpires seem vindictive this year to make bad calls around the ENTIRE league. I don't know if it was instant replay calls that pissed them off or what but it seems since the playoffs last year, the umps have been making one bad call after the other, whether on the bases or being very inconsistent calling pitches at the plate.
In the past, I would say that it was a wash and that bad calls and good calls even themselves out but there really needs to be some tightening of the belt and getting these umps under control. It's frustrating when missed pick off calls and phantom double plays are killing you in low scoring games.
I couldn't agree more Josh, this does seem like it's happening more often this year. I'm pretty sure that neither of these particular bad calls would have affected the score, but it's just the fact that we're seeing this sooo much this season. Interesting point about the replays, I never considered that.
UGH! Another game with no offense. Come on guys, I thought you were over this? You have "the sluggers" back, you were playing Atlanta, and you still couldn't manage to win?
What makes it worse was how great they played against Milwaukee. Maybe we can just play them from here on out? Back to frustration.
Uhm, watching the Cards/Fatties game (tied 4-4 in the 6th) and I saw the most horrible thing. Skip Schumaker (who I have a crush on-don't tell my Cubbies!) is sporting a freaky pimp daddy moustache. Please tell me he's doing it on a dare and doesn't actually think it looks good...that thing better be gone by the time they roll into Chi-town. I'm just sayin.....
I really hope our offense finds it's way back for the weekend series with the Dirty Birds otherwise we will be in deep trouble when they leave town.
Word verf..dante....gezzzzz
Check out the sexy pic of Prince Fielder I put on my blog. I warn you now, if you are offended by all things disgusting, you may not wanna look.......
You know, now that I think about it, that pic of Kevin Hart looks like one of those you see on your local news Crimestoppers report.....lol
Hart sent back down to Iowa today...I was confused last night, now I'm REALLY confused.
Minxie, word has it that he will be back up on the 19th or 20th.
