…………P!

Again - and for the last time - this sweep is huge. It's always hard to take four in a row (that's what she said?) - even if it's against a junior high softball team (or ya know, the Nats) and especially in their house.

Oh, fourth inning. You naughty little vixen. Your supple seven hits. Your luscious seven runs. I couldn’t want you more right now. What started off with an error turned into a Fonzy 2-run homer, which led into a Fun-Size single and a 5-Fingers Hill walk to be followed up with a Hart Attack RBI single. Fuke scored 5-Fingers with a single, a Riot sac fly scored Hart Attack and a D-Lee single scored Fuke. Hoffy then singled and so did Foxy - allowing D-Lee to score and finally brought us to a satisfying climax with the score 8-2 Cubbies. I couldn’t want these guys more right now either.

And the home runs! Just foxy. (Well, Foxy and Fonzy.) Foxy's three-run shot made it 11-2 and hey! - that's two home runs from Fonzy two days in a row. Do we dare whisper he's entering a streak right before we enter that band box in Philadelphia (where…well this is where I would say ''even Ryan Theriot could hit a home run there" but that just doesn’t have the same effect this year)? I do dare! Hoffy & Fun-Size both had three hits on the day, while Fuke took two walks and had two hits. In fact, every starter found his way on base one way or another and managed to score a run too.

The pitching took a backseat to the offensgasm but Kevin Hart made it through five for the win, the Shark relieved him (and his bullpen buddies) for three innings and gave only a solo homer to Adam Dunn (which we knew was going to happen some time this series and this couldn’t have been a better spot). Jeff Stevens, who was considered worth one-third of DeRo (p.s. - who is currently 0-15 with the fowl), closed the game for the CUBS SWEEP!

Foxy was only a triple short of hitting for the cycle and chalked up four ribbies on the day while filling in for a resting Rami. How can we get this guy in the everyday lineup? I'm thinking a new position - "longstop". (Which apparently is a position in cricket and not the perfect name for a baseball-themed porno. Go figure.)

Lilly makes things chilly for Philly.

I don't care who they're playing, a sweep is a sweep! Go Cubs. I alternated watching the Cubbies and nasty Cards games at Grandpa's house...managed to manipulate a little extra Cubbie time when Grandpa started snoozing on the couch and got to see that 4th innin magic. Ah....2nd place all to ourselves, gotta like that.

Granted, the Phils will be tough. But I think the Cubs have a bit of confidence now and if Fonzy can stay hot-watch out. GREAT WEEKEND!!!!

You are right KD, a sweep is a mutha freakin sweep! Hells Ya!!!

Oh that 4th inning. Lovely. Lovely. It will give me something to think about tonight! ; )

Philly will be tough, sure, but hopefully this sweep will give us the confidence we need to rock their world!

:D!

This could be the wins talking but I'm excited. Looking purely at the matchups, I'm digging our chances in Philly. We don't have to face Dollface Hamels - lucking out with Lopez (3.18 ERA) against Ted mofo Lilly, Blanton (4.44 ERA) against Rich "I love the road" Harden and Old Man Moyer (5.58 ERA) against Big "I'm not 75 years old" Z. If the offense can continue showing up, this could be a helluva road trip.

AHHHH! I'm so sad I have to miss tomorrow night's game, given it's such a rarity that I get to actually watch Cubs games and it's on ESPN...BOO! Stupid second job!

Oh, Cubs fans, I got all kinds of pissy today at some Cards fans on my Facebook page. Some Cards fans are real a-holes. I ranted about it on my blog....

Sweet Cubbie dreams everyone! :)

Go Cubs Go!!!!!
The team has too be very confident going into the city of brotherly love to face the Phillies.
Jen, I agree that the pitching rotation is in our favor. Patience at the plate should benefit us at the plate against the Philly starters the Cubbies will be facing.

Sometimes you have to beat up on the little guy to gain the confidence needed to face the big, bad bully. I think the bully is going DOWN!

Hey guys - it's IheartDeRo (which I sitll do, I just imagine him NOT in that ridiculos red uni....oh wait I always imagined him w/out a uni...but I digress)...anyway, Hi, it's me. I've been following your blog lately Jen and I've gotta say your mood seems to be somewhat more cheerful than it had been....could it be all these lovely f'in wins?? YAY CUBS - even if it was the Nats it still counts, right?

I have a question for you guys who are um, shall we say, as Cub-obsessed as I am.....I make purses and I've made some Cubs ones. I have so far refrained from doing any from that other Chicago team. However, they have some (moronic) followers here in northern Indiana sooooooooo....if I made some bags/purses for other teams, I could probably sell them. But that would be selling my soul and eventually God (or even worse Ron Santo) would seek revenge. Right?

Wins! They're better than Prozac - or at least a close second.

Hey, Sox money spent on a cute purse is less for the meth dealers. And more money for your Cubs tix. Sounds like a win-win.

I agree about the wins being better than Prozac (not that I would know about the Prozac, or at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it). Even over at CubsSalad we are brimming with optimism, which is very different from all the swearing and stuff going on just a few short weeks ago!

Sell away, IHeartDero! We know where your true loyalties lie.... :)

"Happy Make Someone Smile" week everyone.
Cubs and Phillies tonight on ESPN, that is perfect, supposed to be 110hot degrees today, so indoors watching a Cubs game is the best place to be.
Anyone got any baseball rumours?

Jen said...

I got nothing Blue, just hoping Halladay stays far away from the NL Central.

KD said...

only rumor i'm hearing is Phillies looking at Halladay...YIKES. can you say "repeat" if that happens???

Jen said...

Yeah, on second thought I hope he stays clear of the entire NL. Just stay put in Toronto, Doc!

Blue said...

I'm thinking that Halladay could end up in Boston.
But the baseball universe is a strange place, so who knows where he will end up if he is traded.

Jen said...

And I still think that's a big "if" too. It's gonna take a lot for him.

Blue said...

I think he will get traded, Toronto can get more(prospects) for him this season than if they wait until next year.
