Yesterday I said that the comeback from the Sox was "the best game of the season thus far". Screw yesterday's game. Yesterday's game is dead to me. GFY yesterday's game. Today the Cubs battled back from Mother Nature and a seven-run deficit to win what I am now deeming the best game of the season thus far!!! (Eat it, yesterday's game!)
I'm still reeling from the fact that the Cubs have made plain jane
pitchers (as for example, Jor-El Pineiro) look like reigning Cy Young winners, while an actual reigning Cy Young winner? Not so scary. D-Lee continued to be uhhh, let's just go with "my muse" as he hit a home run today, in addition to a double, off that Cy Young winner. And Reeeed? He took Cliff Lee deep too, for his fourth home run of the season. Altogether the Cubs compiled three runs, six hits and three walks against one of the best arms in the AL - so don't you worry your
pretty little head about this offense. It seemed a shame that the Cubs had to face Cliff Lee when they finally scrounged up some momentum ("momentum" = scoring 1+ runs), and on the same day Rich gives up the most earned runs we Cubs fans have seen since he strapped on his big blue jock.
But who cares about the first seven innings? HOW ABOUT that post-Lee rally? I'm pretty jazzed for the Andy White Fan Club after their inspiration singled home MB and Geo. Then, Almost-3-
Fingers Koyie singled home Reeeeed before Andy White hurried home off a Fonzy single to make the comeback a reality. And ANOTHER D-Lee homer tied the game. A Fonzy walk, followed by a Fonzy stolen base (are you feeling the Fonzy love yet!?!) led up to Fonzy scoring the winning run off a Riot single. And Gloggles? Well he now has two more wins that Randy Wells. (It's okay, you can chuckle.) GO CUBS GO.
Bittersweet return for DeRo and Woody. (Well bitter for them, sweet for us.) On another note, DeRo's still quite the looker. (Pause for audience gentle sobbing.) And I'm sure it wasn’t the return he wanted (or did he??? I recall him vowing to "always be a Cub") but the prodigal son has indeed returned. (Pause for audience uncontrollable weeping.) Seriously - I was sobbing like a little uh, boy during Woody's pregame extravaganza interviews. I can't wait to see what Jim Hendry has in store for us this offseason but I have a feeling it involves kicking a puppy and stealing Christmas.

Lots of tasty choices tonight but I gotta go again with the 3-5ing D-Lee and his two home runs, including the game-tier. Now if you'll excuse me…I have to go "sing".

Windy! That's why all those panties are flying on the field, right? (Another day of Indian eye candy and the always yummy Lilly Bar on the mound.)

Jen, I have to agree, this game was much better than yesterdays.
I have to say that I was worried about facing Cliff Lee, he did pitch well against our Cubbies, but we still got to him.
Our guys never gave up, never surrendered and gave us like you said, "the best game of the season thus far".
Fonzy was due yesterday and came through. The Riot was due today and came through big time.
It looks like our guys are back to being the team that will make this OUR YEAR!....GO CUBS GO!!!!!
I am still on cloud 9 about this one! THIS is the team we've been waiting (if I say so myself, quite patiently) for all year.
:D !!!
I want to have sex with this game it was so awesome! Oh wait, was that out loud?
Anyhoo......(awkward pause)....I am SO EXCITED to watch tomorrow's game. I am keeping my little Cubsfan fingers crossed that this, FINALLY, is the momentum we've been looking for and that all the stress from April, May and half of June will soon be a distant memory....
GREAT WIN!
LMAO KD!!!
I want to ménage à trois with this game! (I see your awkward pause and I raise you an uncomfortable avoidance of eye contact...)
LOL Jen!!!!
Ha ha - I LOVE this game, but draw the line at sex with it! Instead I'm saving myself for todays game, or todays pitcher.
